WHEELING, W.Va. — City council has approved $75,000 from its opioid settlement funds for Life Hub and the Salvation Army to provide additional temporary housing for the homeless.
The Tuesday night vote followed a long discussion.
Wheeling Councilwoman Connie Cain said the city needs to continue to deal with the homeless issue.
“We have to worry about what we have now,” Cain said. “If we don’t we’re going to be like California that nobody can get around nowhere because of so many people.”
Councilman Ben Seidler said he wanted to make sure the joint efforts by Life Hub and the Salvation Army will address real issues.
