Former Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood keeps getting close to joining five other members of the famed Steel Curtain defense in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Greenwood was announced Wednesday as one of nine players to advance to the semifinal stage in the seniors category for the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Three of the nine players will be selected as finalists by a nine-person Seniors Committee on Tuesday. The three finalists, as well as the finalists in the coaches and contributors category, will be announced on Dec. 3.
Those five finalists will be presented along with 15 modern-era player finalists to the 49-member Selection Committee in January to determine the Class of 2026. Between four and eight members will be selected in accordance with HOF bylaws.
