ATLANTA — Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will undergo surgery for a partially torn ACL and miss the rest of the season, the team said Wednesday.

It came after reports earlier in the week that his injury sustained on Sunday against Carolina may be more serious than was originally thought.

"After further medical evaluation, it has been determined Michael Penix Jr. will undergo season-ending surgery for a partially torn ACL," the team announced.
