NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman has died on Wednesday after a crash in North Augusta last week, according to authorities.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office says 43-year-old Tanya Ortega, of North Augusta, died Wednesday morning due to complications of injuries she sustained in the crash.
The crash happened on the 600 block of Old Edgefield Road around 6 p.m. on Nov. 14, where two pedestrians were struck by a car.
Officers say one of the pedestrians was in a wheelchair. The coroner’s office says Ortega was walking northbound in the roadway of Old Edgefield Road.
Officers say that due to severity of the injuries, both individuals were transported to the hospital by EMS.
The coroner’s office says Ortega was pronounced dead at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday at Wellstar MCG.
