Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted another series based on popular MGM IP, giving a series order to Stargate for Prime Video . The new installment in the classic sci-fi franchise comes from Martin Gero , a Stargate veteran and veteran showrunner who created NBC’s Blindspot .

Stargate was among the first MGM titles identified for series or film adaptations following Amazon’s $8.5B acquisition of the storied Hollywood studio in 2022. The series pickup follows series orders for Elle , a Legally Blonde prequel series from the film franchise’s star Reese Witherspoon; Tomb Raider , headlined by Sophie Turner; and Barbershop , starring Jermaine Fowler, based on the MGM movies. Other series, such as Poltergeist , are in development.
