Mumbai Police have summoned social media influencer Orhan "Orry" Awatramani for questioning in a significant drugs case involving Rs 252 crore worth of mephedrone. He is required to appear before the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) at its Ghatkopar unit at 10 am on Thursday. This summons follows Orry's name surfacing during the investigation into a case that began in March 2024, when authorities seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone from an illegal manufacturing site in Sangli district.
The drugs, valued at approximately Rs 252 crore, are linked to Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, who was arrested after being deported from Dubai. Shaikh allegedly organized rave parties in Mumbai and Dubai, attended by various celebrities and public figures. Investigators have indicated that these gatherings included notable individuals such as Alishah, the son of Dawood Ibrahim's late sister Haseena Parkar, as well as actors Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, and Siddharth Kapoor. The police have also mentioned film producers Abbas-Mustan and rapper Loka as attendees.
The ANC clarified that Orry's questioning is a procedural step to verify statements made by an arrested trafficker. No formal charges have been filed against him at this stage. Authorities are currently examining digital evidence, communication records, and financial transactions related to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and more individuals may be summoned as the police work to uncover the full extent of the drug network and its connections to organized crime.
This is not the first time Orry has been involved in a controversy related to substances. Previously, he and several others were booked by Jammu & Kashmir Police for allegedly consuming alcohol in a restricted area near the Vaishno Devi shrine. As the inquiry progresses, the police are focused on mapping the network and confirming the involvement of those named in the investigation.
