MAROA, Ill. (WAND) — A Maroa family is expressing heartfelt gratitude after an overwhelming show of support from the community following their son’s recent leukemia diagnosis.
Family members say the encouragement, prayers, and kindness shown toward young Matthew Clary have lifted their spirits during an unimaginably difficult time.
Matthew, who is a sophomore at Maroa-Forsyth High School, serves as the school's mascot "Chuck."
"Matthew's heart is always full of Trojan Pride and Matthew puts a lot of time, thought, and effort into being our mascot 'Chuck,'" the school said in a Facebook post. "Nothing makes Matthew happier than being 'Chuck' and bringing a smile to a young Trojans fan at a football game!"
