Former Aston Villa favourite Dean Saunders has lifted the lid on a bizarre incident involving his old boss Big Ron Atkinson. Saunders was a guest on our Claret & Blue podcast and shared a series of cracking anecdotes from his spell at the club.
One story involved the time when Big Ron threw a cup of boiling hot tea and it ended up hitting the popular Welsh striker. It happened at half-time during a Premier League match against Oldham at Boundary Park in September 1993.
Villa were trailing 1-0 to a Gunnar Halle goal at the break and Atkinson was far from impressed with his side's sorry showing. Although the teacup wasn't intended for Saunders, it bounced up off the floor and covered him with boiling water.
"He chucked a cup of tea over me," recalls Deano, in fine story-tellin
