Starting today, iPhone users can add their Illinois driver's license or state ID to their Apple Wallet as part of the state's new Mobile ID program .

This means residents can now present their ID or license using their iPhone or Apple Watch , the Illinois Secretary of State announced.

"This marks a new era of convenience and digital innovation for the state, enabling residents to present their driver’s license and state ID in Apple Wallet in-person online and in-apps at select businesses and organizations," the announcement says.

IPhone users can tap the Add (+) button at the top of the screen in their Apple Wallet, select “Driver’s License or State ID,” and follow the onscreen instructions to start the setup and verification proces
