Landon Waddell died of the combined effects of a concussion and very high alcohol intoxication, says the forensic pathologist who examined his body.
Dr. Derek Musgrove testified Wednesday at the trial for Timothy Smith, who's charged with manslaughter.
Waddell, 37, died on Nov. 17, 2024, after he and Smith, 46, got into a fight when they were hanging out and drinking together at Waddell's home in Saskatoon.
Court has heard that during the fight, Smith punched Waddell, and Waddell fell and may have hit his head on a coffee table as he fell. He was not responsive after that.
Waddell's blood alcohol level was 0.33 per cent, the toxicology report showed. That is more than four times the legal limit for driving of 0.08.
