BRAINERD — Northeast Brainerd’s Gustafson Park is the latest area of the city pegged for a potential housing development.

Brainerd City Council members explored the topic during a meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, when staff told the council of a proposal from the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Discussion will continue amid this year’s budget talks.

Gustafson Park is 1.2 acres of grass about three blocks south of Memorial Park, lying just south of N Street between 9th and 10th avenues northeast. There are four fenced backstops on the property, which is bisected by an alley, but no other amenities aside from an outhouse in the summer.
