FLORENCE, Ore. - A Florence man has been sentenced to five years of probation for sexually abusing a minor at his workplace.
The sentence for Geoffrey Cannon comes as part of a plea deal with Lane County prosecutors. Cannon managed the Oregon Coast Military Museum on Kingwood Street in Florence, where the abuse took place. Florence police first received the report of abuse on June 29. Officers discovered evidence of the abuse at the museum and at Cannon's residence, which he shares with his parents.
In addition to probation for second-degree sex abuse, Cannon must register as a sex offender for life. He is also prohibited from contacting the victim and is required to pay restitution to the court.
