FOXBOROUGH — Drake Maye played baseball growing up in Huntersville, North Carolina, but that’s not why Mike Vrabel used Greg Maddux to articulate a point about him on Wednesday afternoon.
In his second season, the Patriots quarterback leads the league in completion percentage (71.9%) and is second in on-target throws (79.5%). He’s been strikingly accurate at 23 years old.
Asked whether Maye’s accuracy is the product of specific work or natural ability, Vrabel likened him to Maddux, the legendary Braves ace who was notorious for his pinpoint control and voted a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
