Marple police were called to the Marple Starbucks Tuesday after a patron left his Smith & Wesson in the bathroom.
Marple Police Chief Brandon Graff said police were dispatched early in the morning to the Starbucks at 2200 West Chester Pike for a found firearm in the men’s room.
When police arrived, the manager handed over a Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun to the officer and told him that a man had called the store, stating he left his firearm in the bathroom, and was on his way back to retrieve it.
The officer verified the legal owner, a 63 year-old man from Philadelphia, and that the weapon had not been reported stolen.
“When the man arrived back at the store, his identification was verified and, after numerous apologies, the firearm was turned back over to him,” Graff said.
