MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, with the possibility of extended supervision, after being convicted in the 2023 homicide of a man at Madison’s Harmony Apartments.

A judge said Devonte Gafford, 34, will be eligible for extended supervision in 45 years, in connection to the homicide charge.

He was also sentenced to 10 years for the weapons possession charge and 12-and-a-half years for the first-degree recklessly endangering safety charge. These sentences run at the same time as the homicide sentence.

A Dane County jury found Gafford guilty of first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety after a trial in August.

This was the second time Gafford faced a jury on this case. In March 2024, he was convicted of posses
