A budding partnership of Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corp. will soon bloom into a veritable forest.

NPCA and the seaway have collaborated under the Trees for All initiative to plant 3,000 native trees across the local watershed.

The partnership included two fall plantings: 800 trees at Gainsborough Conservation Area and 2,200 at Smith Ness Conservation Area in Niagara Falls.

The plantings were done with financial backing from the seaway and support NPCA’s goal to plant 80,000 trees by 2028.

The effort began through discussions with Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation, which is working with community and corporate partners to grow the region’s tree canopy and advance large-scale restoration efforts.
