State officials are set to close another prison in upstate New York, following the approval of the 2026 state budget.
The state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision confirmed Tuesday it will shutter Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Franklin County, and part of the Collins Correctional Facility in Erie County.
“Upon enactment of the state budget, which allowed for the closure of up to three correctional facilities, (the department) carefully conducted a thorough review of operations at its 42 correctional facilities,” according to a press release issued by the department.
