Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) comes off the field after failing to convert on third down in the second quarter of the NFL Week 11 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025.

Aaron Rodgers was unable to finish the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering an injury to his left wrist late in the first half.

Rodgers missed the entire second half of the 34-12 Steelers victory and it was later revealed he had suffered a small fracture in his non-throwing wrist.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Nov. 18 that Rodgers would not need surgery to repair the injury. Still, the veteran coach is keeping the door open for Rodgers to play in Week 12 vs. the Chicago Bears, officially listing him as questionable.

"We'll see where the weekend leads us," Tomlin told reporters on Friday.

Here are the latest injury updates on Rodgers as the Steelers prepare to travel to Chicago to face the Bears.

Aaron Rodgers injury update

Rodgers is officially listed as "questionable" for the Steelers' Week 12 matchup vs. the Bears. He was a partial participant during Pittsburgh's Friday practice.

Rodgers did not practice for the Steelers on Wednesday, telling reporters he was "thankful to get the day and just focus on rehab for a day."

The 41-year-old also expressed hope he would only need to miss one day of practice before returning to action.

"We'll try to get back on the field tomorrow and see what I can do," Rodgers said.

Rodgers also clarified that any decision to play on Sunday wouldn't be based on pain tolerance. He told reporters his and the team's No. 1 concern in determining his return would be "safety."

Rodgers was also asked if he has thus far found a suitable brace to wear to protect his injured left hand. The 41-year-old quarterback said he and the Steelers were "working through" potential options ahead of Sunday's game.

Rodgers' view of his injury and status aligns with what Tomlin told reporters at his Tuesday media availability.

"Really, it's just about bracing it and securing it for his comfort and safety. And then it's about how functional he is," Tomlin told reporters.

"He's the type of guy and has the type of profile that doesn't require a lot of physical work in an effort to be ready to play," Tomlin added of Rodgers. "And that's helpful."

A determination on Rodgers' status isn't expected to be made until Friday, Nov. 21.

Who is Aaron Rodgers' backup QB?

Mason Rudolph is serving as Rodgers' backup quarterback. The eight-year NFL veteran has a 9-8-1 career record as a starter, including an 8-4-1 mark with the Steelers from 2019-23.

Rudolph was originally selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State. He spent the 2024 NFL season with the Tennessee Titans but has spent his seven other professional seasons in Pittsburgh.

Rudolph has completed 64.1% of his career passes for 4,754 yards, 29 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He has played sparingly thus far in 2025, completing 14 of 18 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown in relief of Rodgers.
