The United States Department of Justice has indicted former Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding on murder and money laundering charges related to an alleged drug trafficking ring that funneled drugs from Mexico into the U.S. and Canada.
Attorney General Pam Bondi accused Wedding, 44, in a press conference on Wednesday, November 19, of ordering a hit on a federal witness in a restaurant in Medellin, Columbia, before he could testify against Wedding. A $2 million reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to those involved in the alleged murder.
Wedding competed for Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he placed 24th in the men’s parallel giant slalom. He gave up the sport shortly after his Olympics appearance.
