WASHINGTON — Cases in the infant botulism outbreak linked to ByHeart baby formula have increased once again, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Eight new illnesses have been reported since the last update , and a total of 31 infants in 15 states have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported at this time.
ByHeart, a manufacturer of organic baby formula, recalled all of its products nationwide on Nov. 11. But the FDA says the recalled product is still on some store shelves in multiple states.
The administration said it “is working with state partners and retailers to ensure an effective recall.”
Of the 27 infants with available demographic information, 11 are female. The infants' ages range between 16 and 200 days.
