BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - New data shows a potential convention center in Burlington would help the state’s travel and tourism industries boom.

Earlier this year, officials began exploring the idea of building a venue to hold thousands to spur economic activity. Consultants presented data showing that since 2017, Burlington has missed out on $63 million in travel and tourism money.

Their analysis reveals there is demand for 30,000 to 60,000 square feet of function space along with 250 hotel rooms. They say Burlington’s existing walkable amenities give the city a head start.
