A source within the Tulane football program flat-out denied a report that Green Wave coach Jon Sumrall would interview with Florida on Thursday for its open position.

Tulane (8-2, 5-1), which at No. 24 was the only Group of 5 conference team ranked in the top 25 of the college football playoff rankings last night, can be assured of the host role for the American Conference championship game by winning at Temple on Saturday and beating struggling Charlotte at home on Nov. 29. A subsequent victory in the title matchup almost certainly would lead to an automatic berth in the college football playoff.
