NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is facing decades behind bars after a jury sided with prosecutors who say he posed as a teen and groomed a Tennessee 12-year-old, hid in her bedroom and attempted to sexually assault her.
The Sumner County District Attorney General said Omar Malik Lundy, 30, was convicted of attempted rape of a child, assault, two counts of aggravated assault and solicitation of a minor to commit rape of a child. The “shocking case” culminated in a conviction Wednesday after a three-day trial.
He will be sentenced in January and faces up to 37 years behind bars. But authorities say that justice comes more than a year after Lundy’s crimes began.

Investigators say the case began over a year ago, when Lundy first contacted
