RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Rutherford County students may attend different schools as the school board considers rezoning options to address rapid enrollment growth.

The county is on track to enroll more than 56,000 students by 2030 as families continue moving to the area.

“We are the fastest growing school system in Tennessee. We’re about the 80th largest in the country,” said James Evans, chief communications officer for Rutherford County Schools.

The new Poplar Middle School is under construction and scheduled to open in August. The school needs a zone created, which will affect other school boundaries.
