New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is breathing on his own as he recovers from a gunshot wound sustained on Sunday, November 16, outside a midtown Manhattan restaurant.

Boyd, 29, updated his followers via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 19, posting a picture of himself in his hospital bed.

“God is real, God is powerful!” he wrote over the image. “I’m sorry, I have no words at the moment. Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”

Police say that Boyd was shot in the abdomen at around 2 a.m. ET after a dispute turned violent outside Sei Less restaurant on West 38th Street near 7th Avenue. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
