After one of the worst fall box office performances in decades, Hollywood is about to get a big jolt with the highly-anticipated release of Universal's Wicked: For Good . The second part of director Jon M. Chu's Broadway blockbuster adaptation debuts in over 4,000 North American theaters this weekend, as fans are expected to flock to local multiplexes en masse.
The first half of this five-hour epic musical movie - Wicked - opened with $112.5 million back in November 2024 ( a record for stage-to-screen adaptations ) en route to $474.5 million domestic and $758.8 million worldwide, from an estimated production budget of $150 million. This second film was also filmed for $150 million, but is poised to eclipse its predecessor.
