WASHINGTON — Attorneys representing the Trump administration and District residents had the chance to make their case before a DC federal judge on Wednesday regarding an immigration lawsuit filed in late September.

Several immigrants filed the lawsuit to try to put a stop to warrantless ICE arrests, which began during the federal surge.

Lawyers representing the D.C. residents say ICE agents are arresting people simply because they perceive they're Latino or immigrants. However, the Trump administration argues that these arrests are necessary to improve public safety.

No decision was made on Wednesday to pause the enforcement. The federal judge gave both sides until next Tuesday to introduce additional evidence before making a ruling.

It's unclear when that decision will be made.
