ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Mexican man has pleaded guilty to assaulting an immigration officer, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
The U.S. Attorney said Ricardo Trejo-Martinez, 41, shoved an ICE officer into oncoming traffic during a traffic stop on May 20. The officer stopped Trejo-Martinez in Commerce “to execute an administrative arrest warrant for an illegal alien,” according to the U.S. Attorney.
Trejo-Martinez reportedly refused to identify himself and “shoved the deportation officer into the four-lane highway where vehicles were passing.”
Trejo-Martinez is an illegal alien from Querétaro, Mexico, according to the U.S. Attorney.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer and will be sentenced on Jan. 20.
