COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Lexington County man has been sentenced to a year and three months after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including dogfighting.
53-year-old Samuel Alexander Gray of Leesville was sentenced for operating a dogfighting venture and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
An investigation led by the FBI Columbia Field Office revealed that in September 2023, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Animal Services responded to a citizen’s concern about animals on a rural property.
During the investigation, they found a large fight pit with a carpeted floor, covered in blood. DOJ says there were also lawn chairs set up around the pit for spectating. Investigators also found dog training items and a dogfighting rule book on the property.
