The Ohio 6th District Court of Appeals upheld a ruling made by the U.S. District Court of Northern Ohio in favor of the city of University Heights which prevented a resident who claimed he was singled out for his attempts to hold Jewish prayer services in his home.
Daniel Grand, who moved to University Heights in 2017, filed the lawsuit on Sept. 9, 2022, against the city and Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan – in both his official and personal capacity – alleging civil rights violations.
Also named as defendants was Luke McConville, then-University Height law director, and Paul Siemborski, a city planning commission member, both in their individual capacities.
