A two-vehicle crash in Princeville on Tuesday afternoon sent two drivers to the hospital, according to the Kauai Police Department.
Police said at about 3:15 p.m., the driver of a 2024 Toyota SUV heading southbound on Kuhio Highway collided with another driver in a 2014 Chevrolet SUV coming from the other direction, attempting a U-turn at the Kapaka Street intersection.
The Toyota struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet, according to police, then veered off the southbound shoulder.
A 24-year-old woman from Kapaa was driving the Toyota. She was treated at Wilcox Medical Center and released.
A 79-year-old man driving the Chevrolet was admitted to Wilcox for observation.
Police closed Kuhio Highway in both directions for about 45 minutes while conducting an on-scene investigation.
