NEW DELHI: The Tihar Jail complex has welcomed a new addition — a gaushala, or cowshed, which was jointly inaugurated by lieutenant governor V K Saxena and Delhi home minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday. Currently, 10 cows, some bought and others donated, been given shelter in the complex, which has a capacity for housing another 10. Delhi govt recently approved the decision, said officials. Inmates from rural backgrounds may be roped in to feed and look after the cows. Sood said between Jan 1 and 19, Delhi Police received 25,000 complaints related to stray and abandoned cattle.
