Convincing NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to stay on under Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was part of a carefully orchestrated plan leading back to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

“I was involved in conversations actually, in the summertime, again in the fall,” Hochul said in downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday, shortly after Mamdani’s transition team announced the appointment .

The moderate Democrat’s private pushes to keep on the equally moderate, tough-on-crime top cop came into full view when Hochul said that Tisch’s presence will help show President Donald Trump that the city is in the right hands .
