EL PASO, TX – Today, a federal court ruled 2-1 against Texas’ redistricted 2026 map that would have racially gerrymandered the state.
“Texas’ rushed and racially gerrymandered redistricting maps cannot be used in 2026. This is a huge win for democracy and a massive defeat for our national president who seeks to escape accountability for his disastrous policies, staggering corruption, and numerous crimes,” said Roland Gutierrez.
In the court’s ruling , Senator Gutierrez’s August 22, 2025 cross examination of Sen. Phil King played a key role in overturning the maps. “However, on August 22, 2025—shortly after that call allegedly occurred—Senator Roland Gutierrez directly asked Chairman King on the Senate floor if he knew whether the mapdrawer “looked at race in creating the[] map.” D
