MADISON — A Wisconsin sports betting bill was pulled at the last minute in what will be the Wisconsin State Assembly's final session of 2025.

After moving quickly through committees, a bill that would have partly legalized online sports betting was removed from the Assembly floor vote at the last minute.

The bipartisan bill would give tribal casinos the ability to own and operate sports betting online if it's run from their physical location. However, popular apps like DraftKings and FanDuel would still be illegal in the state.

The bill's author, Representative Tyler August (R-Walworth), told reporters the legislation had the votes to pass Wednesday but said there is "no rush."
