MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) study decades in the making is almost complete, but officials need public input to finalize their long-term vision for the Beltline.
The DOT has created a roadmap for the future of the Beltline, but before any projects take shape, they’re looking for community input on their suggestions. Planners say they want to reduce crashes and improve congestion.
Jacob Hillery, a tow truck driver for Finish Line Towing in Madison, takes the Beltline every day and has seen dangerous situations firsthand.
“When the flex lane opens up, they’re flying. Nonstop. Even if the flex lane is not open, the left lane, everyone goes super fast,” Hillery said.
With crashes like one on Monday that left a car on fire , safety on the Beltlin
