With Border Patrol agents set to arrive in New Orleans within days, local immigrant rights advocates say volunteers have been busy.

“What I’m seeing is people coming out of the woodwork saying ‘how can we help,’” said Clare Leavy, Acting Chair of Indivisible NOLA. The nonprofit organizes protests and action against immigration enforcement, among other causes.

“People are actively, right now, assembling the best information and resources that they can for distribution,” said Leavy, “both for allies and for people who are likely to be racially profiled and targeted.”
