SALEM, Ore. - Gov. Tina Kotek has signed Senate Bill 243, known as the Community Safety Firearms Act, into law. This legislation aims to prevent mass shooting events by banning rapid-fire devices and strengthening firearm restrictions in public spaces.

"The Community Safety Firearms Act is now law in Oregon," said Gov. Kotek. "This matters to every parent dropping their kid off at school. It matters to everyone who deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood. It matters because gun violence is preventable. And we’re proving it."
