BOISE, Idaho — In an uncommon occurrence, ballots cast in Elmore County during the November election will be recounted by hand after the clerk's office found hundreds of ballots were not accounted for in the final tally.
The Elmore County Clerk's Office first discovered the mismatched totals and reached out to the Idaho Secretary of State's Office on Friday, Nov. 14. The clerk found that approximately 300 ballots were not tallied or included in the final results.
Following the discovery, Secretary of State Phil McGrane called the situation "very concerning," and an audit conducted by his office on Tuesday morning verified the untallied ballots and confirmed all votes are accounted for.
