WILKES-BARRE — In the latest edition of King’s College’s Visiting Writer series, playwright Stephen Karam was the center of attention at the Burke Auditorium on Wednesday night. Karam is a Tony winner and Scranton native, who is most known for writing the stage production of 2015’s “The Humans,” and writing and directing the film version of that play.
Before the evening program, Karam spent the day talking to students and faculty on campus about his writing processes and life in the theatre.
Karam’s work is particularly noteworthy in his home region this month, as “The Humans” will headline the Scranton Shakespeare Festival from Nov. 28 to 30.
