CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. —

A Pennsylvania man is facing attempted homicide charges after officials said he allegedly slammed a pregnant woman's head into the ground, leaving her with severe injuries.

According to the Carlisle Police Department in Cumberland County, 42-year-old Odudu Ukpanah allegedly assaulted a woman in the stairwell at the Seven Gables Apartments on Nov. 7 just before noon.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Ukpanah had assaulted the victim on the stairs and then choked her on the ground while slamming her head into the cement floor.

The suspect left the scene but then returned to assault the woman again before police arrived at the scene.
