HOLLAND, Mich. — The City of Holland will soon be expanding its social district to include the new ice park at "Window on the Waterfront."

The Holland City Council passed a resolution Wednesday night to expand the social district's boundaries.

The change will take effect in 21 days and will allow people to drink alcohol in the plaza area of the ice park, though not on the ice itself.

Some residents expressed concern with allowing alcohol near the ice rink, as they felt it could be a safety issue. However, local businesses argued it would help bring more foot traffic to restaurants, breweries and shops.
