PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WLOX) - State Treasurer David McRae wrapped up his statewide unclaimed money tour in Pass Christian Wednesday morning.
McRae and his team have been stopping in cities across the state, helping people get unclaimed money that belongs to them.
In the past five years, a record-breaking $150 million dollars has been returned to Mississippians.
McRae says the most common source of unclaimed money is from utility deposits. Other sources include life insurance claims, bank accounts left open when people move and estates.
“My whole mission at the treasury when I got there was to make sure people got their money back,” Mississippi Treasurer David McRae said. “Unclaimed money is not the state’s money, it is the people’s money and I want to make sure people got what was rig
