'We're finally at the summit': Wife of Fargo officer honored during Blue Days of Giving

FARGO — Neighborhoods around Fargo are slowly becoming brighter as Christmas lights go up for the holiday season, and for one local couple, the community’s support has been just as illuminating.

The Fargo Police Department’s fifth annual “Blue Days of Giving” fundraiser is helping Sgt. Shawn Gamradt and his wife, Angie, through a challenging time. The couple faces nearly $25,000 in medical bills as Angie continues her recovery from a neurological disorder she has battled for five years.

"It feels like we've climbed this mountain," Shawn Gamradt said.

The struggle began nearly five years ago when Angie started having difficulty with analytical thinking. After a year-and-a-half of searching for answers, she was diagnosed with functional neurological disorder, an inflammation in the brain
