MAPLE, Wis. (Northern News Now) - The Northwestern High School football team is more like a family, and this year, they came together for an unforgettable season, going undefeated all the way to the WIAA Division 5 State Championship game.
The last time the Tigers were in the state championship was 1993, five years after they won the title in 1988.
For some of the players, it means more as their dads took home the titles in the 88′ game.
“Being in a stadium like that and having that experience is something I’ll never forget, and I’m super excited for these boys to have it,” said Greg Nelson, a former defensive lineman for the Tigers in 1988.
37 years later, he’s watching his youngest son, Finley, a captain of this year’s team, as they hope to repeat history.
