The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team went into its first road matchup ranked 296th in the country in free-throw shooting.
Those struggles cost the Cowboys during a 78-70 loss to Sam Houston State on Wednesday night in Huntsville, Texas.
UW finished 9-of-22 (40.9%) from the charity stripe, while the Bearkats were 29-of-33 (87.9%). The Cowboys shot just 7-of-17 (41.2%) from the free-throw line in the second half.
The loss dropped the Cowboys to 4-1, while Sam Houston improved to 2-2.
