A man has claimed Transport for NSW will revoke his license unless he returns his "inappropriate and offensive" personalised number plates.
The driver - named Eddie - told 2GB's Ben Fordham on Thursday morning he received a letter from the state's transport agency urging him to return the plates by November 24 or risk having his car registration suspended.
Eddie's plates have borne the inscription "Il Duce" for 6 months.
Il Duce means 'the leader' in Italian and is synonymous with the leader of the country's National Fascist Party Benito Mussolini.
Fascists referred to Mussolini, whose dictatorship of Italy's fascist era from 1922 to 1943 comprised of brutal war crimes, political killings and an alliance with Nazi Germany leader Adolf Hitler, as Il Duce.
