Locals are encouraged to attend an eye-opening experience at the Western Slope Center for Children on Nov. 18, called “Through Their Eyes,” which will illustrate the importance of child advocacy centers to victimized youth.

The event seeks to raise awareness of the many vital support services for child victims of abuse and sexual assault, which, due to repeated funding reductions, face financial jeopardy.

“On one side (will be) the dark, isolating journey a child faces without a coordinated system in place,” the press release stated. “Endless retellings, lack of support and overwhelming hardship make an already traumatic experience even more difficult.” Western Colorado
