Shreyasi Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLA from Jamui, was sworn in as a minister on Thursday as part of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s new cabinet. The NDA formed the government after a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, securing 202 of 243 seats. Nitish Kumar took oath for a record 10th time as Chief Minister, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several dignitaries in attendance.
Shreyasi Singh, who made her political debut in 2020, once again won the Jamui seat in the recent elections. She defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Shamshad Alam by over 54,000 votes, increasing her victory margin compared to her debut win five years earlier.
BJP emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, while Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) secured 85, making them the two main pillars
