The riot that started on February 23, 2020 in Delhi ended on February 25.

During the hearing of a case related to the 2020 Delhi riots, the Delhi Police presented videos of Sharjeel Imam’s allegedly provocative speeches before the Supreme Court. In the videos, Sharjeel Imam is seen purportedly delivering inflammatory speeches against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The Delhi Police stated that these speeches worsened the situation and incited people. According to the police, Sharjeel Imam delivered such speeches during the protests against the CAA and NRC, which contributed to triggering violence.

A trend of anti-national activities is emerging: Police

During the hearing, the Delhi Police also told the court that there is a growing trend of anti-national activities in the country.
